- Without affectation or insincerity -

Unmannered is an independent production company developing and producing feature and short films across documentary and narrative. We combine a strong artistic approach with international commercial ambition, working primarily between the UK and the Nordics.

Our films include skateboarding documentary Boarders (2021), which was longlisted for two British Independent Film Awards, including the Breakthrough Producer award. Our second feature, My Everest, premiered at the BFI IMAX in London in April 2023 and was named in The Sunday Times Critics’ Best Films of 2023. The film received a UK theatrical release, including a limited IMAX run, as well as a North American release. In 2025, Unmannered produced A Death in the Family, an award-winning short film adaptation of Karl Ove Knausgård’s international bestseller, starring Johnny Flynn (Ripley, One Life). The film is currently on the festival circuit.

Unmannered is currently developing a romantic comedy with BAFTA-winner Lynsey Miller attached to direct, alongside multiple fiction and documentary projects across the UK and Nordics. The company is based in London and Helsinki.

Founded in 2020 by producer Annika Ranin, Unmannered is built on experience in production and independent film business, including work in international film financing.
